This was a fantastic result for us. Labour brought in two MPs, the Mayor of London and pulled in support from Boroughs all over London to fight us - and we won! Our other wonderful target candidates, Tyrone, Bettina and Charlie came very close and we are incredibly proud of them for the campaigns they ran.

In the subsequent July by-election in De Beauvoir, our candidate Tyrone Scott narrowly missed out becoming our third councillor by only 27 votes, results here.

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who got involved with this year's campaigns. Every single contribution led to this, we only won in Hackney Downs by 31 votes.

Our collective energy and efforts are what have achieved this result and together we now have 2 Green Councillors in Hackney. They will represent Hackney's residents and push for the environmental and social change that we all want.

The Green Party works all year round in Hackney, not only at election time.

Our Plan For Hackney

In 2022, we released a comprehensive plan for a Fairer, Greener Hackney. Read it now (PDF).

It was developed from conversations with residents and from proposals put forward by local community groups. We listened to and respected residents as experts in their lives and communities.

We are really proud of it, you can read the full document by downloading it here (PDF)

We need your support

Our dedicated volunteers are out every week speaking to voters on the doorstep. We need to help them get the Green message across to residents by delivering high quality literature, which costs money to print.

Please help make our plans for a Fairer, Greener Hackney a reality by donating to us.
